Violette Taquet: Eunomart Sculptor

In 2020, Violette Taquet embarks on the vast Eunomart project. Let's take a closer look at her background and vision!

How did you get involved in the art world?

Violette: My parents were collectors, so I was exposed to art from an early age! After graduating from business school, I worked at Artsper for four years. This experience gave me the keys to learning about the art market, and to defining its contours and issues.

In fact, it was through my contact with numerous galleries that I came up with the idea of founding Eunomart.

Can you elaborate on this last sentence? What was behind the creation of Eunomart?

Violette: I wanted to respond to an issue that is as current and complex as it is evolving in the art market: the 5th European Directive on the fight against money laundering.

By imposing a legal framework, it goes against all the issues of confidentiality and exclusivity that have shaped the art market until now.

So I set out to find a solution for art professionals. Surrounded by my team, all we had to do was summarize the legal obligations (easy to say!), generate a tree structure of vigilance measures covering all possible scenarios for our users, and provide them with a risk diagnosis, to create from scratch a complete, high-performance and secure support package!

Who's on your team? What is your goal?

Violette: Our team has grown since we started. Rémi Lefort, co-founder and CTO of Eunomart, and Solène Clément, lawyer at the Paris Bar and President of OLAB, were already present when the first version of Eunomart saw the light of day in April 2022. A few newcomers later, we've formed a dynamic team full of goodwill, doing everything we can to offer a useful tool! Our aim? To help art market players save time on complex legal procedures, so that they can concentrate on their core business.

What obstacles have you encountered as an entrepreneur?

Violette: Once Eunomart had been conceived, we faced a real challenge: convincing the market to trust us, both in terms of the compliance of our tool and the security of their customer data. However, a number of professionals such as Jacques Lacoste, Piasa, Negropontes and Perahia placed their trust in us from the outset, and now rely on Eunomart to ensure their structures are compliant. And more and more of them are following our lead! Mission accomplished.

What's your secret to leading the Eunomart teams?

Violette: At Eunomart, we combine communication with simplicity. I make it my duty to encourage internal discussions on the market, feedback from our customers, and the brakes of those who are still hesitant to use the tool, to ensure its constant evolution. Not forgetting the sharing of our victories!
